As our faithful listeners may remember, Knucklehead Radio has been carrying The National Defense since June of 2006. As a part of WRBC, we were one of the first two dozen stations to carry the show, and through our webcasting we were the first to bring the show to a world wide audience. As a veteran and VFW life member, it' has been a pleasure to help spread the word of the VFW, it's various programs and all of its efforts, both on The National Defense and on many other shows that we carry.
However, with the show from April 17, 2010, our legal crews have become a
bit concerned. During the first segment, at 4:43, Jerry stated that Glenn
Beck had claimed that "FEMA was secretly running concentration camps."
Those that listen to Beck's show know firsthand how often he uses satire to
poke fun at those who are of different opinions than he. Glenn is one of the
many hosts that we carry and we are obviously concerned when any host could
possibly be carrying false information. After the 2004 election, we all saw
the fallout of Dan Rather and CBS News' false story of the National Guard
Doccuments of President Bush. Running a story with blatantly false information
is slander and legal departments of many networks, ours included, have been
greatly concerned with this ever since. If Glenn has indeed made such claims,
we would like this to be verified and if found to be true, he will be removed
from our lineup. Also claimed was that Congressman Emmanuel Cleaver had been
called the "N" word as he walked to the Capitol to vote for the
healthcare bill. Our news crew have been searching tirelessly for proof of
this claim to no avail. They are now offering a $10,000 reward for proof of
this story. Until that time, we are treating it as an utterly false story.
Our legal team is concerned that stories like these are slander, not to mention
working against our record of honest and reliable reporting over the last
16 years. Therefore we are dropping The National Defense from our lineup until
such time as the claims can be proven accurate. If these claims can be proven
true, we will gladly return the show to our lineup and remove Glenn for his
inaccuracies. I hope that the Cleaver claims can be proven true so that the
VFW can use the money to provide outstanding services to those who need it.
